Panch Phoron

8th December 2020 By Teresa

Panch Phoron

Make your own Panch Phoron, an Indian spice blend, using a combination of these spices Fenugreek seed, nigella seed, cumin seed, black mustard seed and fennel seed.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp brown mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp nigella seeds (also called black cumin or kalonji)
  • 1½ tsp fenugreek seeds

Method

  1. Combine the seeds in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container.
  2. Depending on what kind of dish you make with these seeds, they can either be fried briefly in oil or dry roasted to coax out their rich flavours.
